Dear Citizens of Devils Lake, both old and new,

In 1883, a small town on the shores of Devils Lake, ND, was incorporated as an official city in North Dakota.  In July, 2008, we are ready to celebrate again with a huge party.  We have a great group of people working hard to help make this the Best Party Ever, but it won’t be the same without you. 

Registration for the event will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2008, at Joe Roller Field.  There will be a welcoming ceremony with music and guest speakers as well as a burger feed which is included in the cost of registration.  The night will be capped off with a dance at the Burdick Arena featuring a live band. 

Friday, July 4 will begin with a parade down Main Street.  There will be a burger and brats feed at Roosevelt Park along with music and games for the kids.  At this time, we will also be dedicating the Galleger Elks Band Shell.  Then we will move back to the Burdick Arena for music and fireworks later in the evening.

Downtown Day will be on Saturday, July 5 and will feature a kiddy parade, games, booths and food vendors.  The downtown merchants will be featuring a day of great bargains.  There will be city, county, lake, historical and Camp Grafton tours available for those interested.  Lake Region State College will hold an open house with a talent show in the afternoon.  We will end the day with a street dance on Main Street featuring some local talent and a big-name band.

Sunday, July 6 is Faith and Family Day and we will help St. Josephs Catholic Church, St Olaf Lutheran Church, United Methodist Church and Presbyterian Church celebrate their 125th birthday.  This would also be a great time to set up a family or class reunion.  All four days will feature fund raisers for the Devils Lake Public Schools Foundation and Lake Region State College.

As you can see, a lot of planning and hard work has already gone into making this event a great time.  We hope you will make plans to help us CELEBRATE DEVILS LAKE IN 2008!
