Devils Lake, ND – The Devils Lake Area Chamber of Commerce along with the Devils Lake Visitors Committee is proud to announce it has been awarded funding through the Regional Workforce Impact Program (RWIP) to launch a transformative Talent Attraction Marketing Initiative aimed at addressing critical workforce challenges in the Lake Region.

The $240,000 grant, will empower the Chamber & Tourism to implement innovative strategies designed to attract new talent to the region while enhancing its appeal as a destination for living, working, and thriving.

“With unemployment in Ramsey County at just 2.1%, our employers face a severe labor shortage,” said Suzie Kenner, Executive Director of the Devils Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. “This grant allows us to creatively showcase all the reasons why Devils Lake is not only an exceptional place to visit but also to live and build a future.”

The initiative focuses on talent attraction through a variety of strategic elements, including:

  • Website Enhancements: Upgrading the Chamber’s relocation resources to better serve prospective residents.
  • Video Series: Producing dynamic, hosted YouTube videos that highlight the region’s lifestyle, career opportunities, and unique community spirit.
  • Navigator Program: Introducing a platform to provide personalized support for individuals relocating to the area.
  • Targeted Marketing Campaigns: Launching billboard, digital, and social media campaigns to promote Devils Lake as a prime location for talent.
  • Expanded Visitor Guide: Adding content to showcase Devils Lake as a place to live and work alongside its renowned outdoor attractions.

Key partners in the project include Lake Region State College, Forward Devils Lake, North Dakota Job Service, and the City of Devils Lake, with support from various local businesses and organizations.

“Tourism has long been a driver of Devils Lake’s economy, and this program gives us the chance to integrate a ‘come live here’ message into our visitor outreach,” Kenner added. “We’re excited to build on our strengths as a tourism destination and develop innovative solutions to meet our region’s workforce needs.”

The project will kick off on December 9, 2024, with milestones including the creation of a comprehensive marketing message by early 2025 and the launch of the Navigator platform and enhanced relocation resources by June 2025.

The Chamber plans to track the project’s success using metrics such as website traffic, social media engagement, and viewership of the video series. These efforts will be complemented by broader regional initiatives, including partnerships with the "Find the Good Life" campaign and local businesses.
