Things to Do With Kids
A Family Adventure Like No Other
Start your day by picking up donuts from local favorite Devils Lake Doughnuts and make your way to White Horse Hill National Game Preserve where you can take their exciting auto-tour with a chance to see bison and elk roaming around while enjoying your donuts. After the auto-tour, take the opportunity to get out of your vehicle and move around by taking in the hiking trails or walking the long steps to the top of the overlook. After White Horse Hill, go explore Fort Totten State Historic site that was originally a station for soldiers to enforce peace and guard transportation routes for the Dakota tribe and then transformed into a Native American boarding school before being transformed into the historic site.
Depending on when you visit, there might be a play happening by the Fort Totten Little Theatre in Roosevelt Park, make sure to check their schedule at www.forttottenlittletheater.com. Another great stop is the Mary Ann's Place for pizza, arcade games and ice cream. After lunch you can spend the afternoon/evening enjoying the beautiful lake. Head over to Grahams Island State Park to swim at the beach or fish off the fishing dock. There is not a restaurant at the start park, stop at Leever’s Grocery Store and pick up a picnic from the deli or order food to go from a local restaurant.
Another option for the afternoon/evening is to head over to Woodland Resort where you can rent a pontoon to explore the lake, pick up dinner to go from Proz Lakeside at the Cove located right at Woodland Resort to enjoy on the pontoon and pick up a beverage from Bobbers located lakeside by the marina at Woodland Resort.
There are plenty of places for camera and selfie moments, tag #devilslakend.
