Hovde Resort and JD’s Bar & Grill are a family-owned business rooted in the idea that ordinary people can do extraordinary things. We’re proud to serve our community and visitors alike with a welcoming atmosphere, great food, and meaningful experiences. A big part of our story is our cattle farm, which supplies the beef for our restaurant bringing a true farm-to-table experience to every plate. It’s a difference you can taste, and it’s why so many of our guests come back for what they call the best burgers in town.

Our favorite part of having a business in Devils Lake is being part of a true tourism destination in North Dakota. We get to meet people from all across the United States who come here to experience the lake, and we love being a part of their trip—whether that’s their first visit or a tradition they come back to every year. Being in Devils Lake gives us the best of both worlds—a thriving tourism destination and a welcoming local community. As a newer business, we’re grateful for the growth we’ve experienced here and look forward to continuing to get more involved.

How has Hovde Resort and JD's Bar & Grill changed in the last year?
Over the past year, our business has continued to grow and evolve in exciting ways. We were honored to receive the North Dakota Destination Development Grant, which has allowed us to begin development on our new Bunkhouse Boathouse rental—something guests will see right as they arrive at the resort. Alongside that, we’ve been focused on elevating our food and refining our menu, while also expanding our specials and events to create more experiences for both locals and visitors. We’re always open to new ideas, feedback, and partnerships as we continue to grow
