The Devils Lake Chamber announced the new website in November of 2022 and with the new website came a new and improved community event calendar. The calendar is to be used by Chamber members as well as community members to announce their events to inspire people to attend.

In the year 2022, the Chamber and Tourism divisions saw 369,719 page views on the website. This sparks a lot of traffic to the event listings. Not only does the local community take advantage of looking at the calendar for things to do, but our travelers do as well. Not only does the new website provide a event listing page, but it also gives us the opportunity to post upcoming events on multiple pages throughout the website, giving it maximum exposure.

Maddie Cummings, Director of the Lake Region Public Library had this to say about utilizing the event calendar; “as an organization that commonly hosts family events, I love using the Chamber Calendar to spread the word about our regular and special programs. We have had families from out of town have their outdoor trip to Devils Lake derailed by weather, and they found the library because of the Chamber calendar and were able to attend a program at the library. Personally, as a community member, I love the Chamber calendar to see businesses and individuals that are putting on events that my organization can potentially partner with. The submission process is very quick and easy, and it's one of my first stops when I start to put the word out about my events.”

As of last week, the Devils Lake Chamber now has a partnership with North Dakota Tourism. Once an event is placed and approved on the devilslakend.com event calendar, it will automatically upload the information to the ndtourism.com website calendar of events if it fits into the tourism categories. This gives you the opportunity to post your event in one place, instead of two, and gain maximum exposure for your event. In 2022, North Dakota Tourism had over 2,000,000 visits to their website.

Event posting is easy; go to devilslakend.com and hover over the Events tab at the top and click on Submit Your Event. Once all the information is provided and you click on Submit My Event, our employees will be notified and will do a quick look over and approve. “This is a free portal to post your information to the region and state and definitely a marketing tool you need to have in your tool chest,” states Suzie Kenner, Tourism Director. “There are many ways to market your event to the community, but you want to make sure you add your event to our website. Not only does it provide the information on our website but gives our employees the knowledge of what is going on when people call into our visitor center, or stop in looking for something to do, gives us the information for our bi-monthly coffeetime series and overall, helps us help you.”
